EASTER DAY - THE RESURRECTION OF OUR LORD – April 05, 2015
ABOUT THE WORSHIP TODAY
Our Gospel for Easter describes the stone that was rolled in front of Jesus’ tomb as being “very large.” It was so large, in fact, that the women who came to this tomb early on Easter morning wondered, “Who will roll away the stone for us from the entrance of the tomb” (Mark 16:3b)? They would soon discover that rolling away the stone would not be necessary—it was already rolled back! Jesus’ resurrection is larger than that or any other stone. No stone can stop Jesus from rising. No stone can stop God’s gifts of Word and Sacrament. No stone can stop our resurrection at our Savior’s return! So, we can sing:
Vain the stone, the watch, the seal;
Christ hath burst the gates of hell.
Death in vain forbids His rise;
Christ has opened paradise. LSB 469:3
X SILENT PRE-SERVICE PRAYER X
O Risen Lord, the way, the truth, and the life!
Make us faithful followers of Your Resurrection
Grant that we may be inwardly renewed;
Dying to ourselves in order that You may live in us.
May our lives serve as signs of the transforming power of Your love.
Use us as Your instruments for the renewal of society,
Bringing Your life and love to all, And leading them to Your Church.
This we ask of You, Lord Jesus, Living and reigning with the Father,
In the unity of the Holy Spirit, God forever. Amen
WELCOME & RITE OF FRIENDSHIP
We cordially welcome you this Easter morning to the Lord’s house! Whether this is your first time here, or you come on a regular basis, we invite you to praise God, to grow in your relationship with the Resurrected Jesus and to fellowship with other members of God’s family. Let Jesus live in your heart and guide you every day! Take a few moments to fill out the "friendship form." If you are our guest for the first time, please leave us your address and phone number.
The greatest of all banquets is ready for you today. For your personal preparation to take part in the Lord’s Supper ask yourself the following questions: A. Do I recognize that I am a sinner? B. Do I believe in Jesus Christ as the only Savior who paid for my sins? C. Do I have a sincere intention to harmonize my life with the will of God by the power of the Holy Spirit? D. Do I believe that in the bread and in the wine I receive the Body and the Blood of my Savior?

And now let the weak say, “I am strong,”
Let the poor say, “I am rich,” because of what the Lord has done for us;
And now let the weak say, “I am strong,”
Let the poor say, “I am rich,” because of what the Lord has done for us.
